ABOUT ME

Black and white photo of a person with short dark hair, wearing sunglasses and a necklace, standing in front of a reflective surface with a blurred outdoor background.

I’m Nicole Nora Minassian, a Seattle-based painter working primarily in acrylic. My work explores how memory, emotion, and environment shape identity. I aim to create something honest that others can connect with in their own way.

As a first-generation Armenian-American, I hold a deep respect for the resilience, community, and storytelling traditions that shaped my upbringing. These values continue to inform both my perspective and creative process.

Most of my paintings begin with photography. I capture scenes from daily life—natural textures, moments of connection, and familiar objects—and digitally rework them through collage and color studies. I’m drawn to both structure and softness, often balancing geometric elements with organic forms. Once I arrive at the canvas, I layer texture, color, and motion to build depth.

After leaving a corporate path, I returned to painting to reconnect with something more instinctive—something rooted in feeling rather than expectation. Art has become a way to reflect, process, and share something genuine with others. In painting, I’m asking: What do we hold onto, and how does it shape who we are?

My work is currently on view in select group exhibitions. For inquiries, commissions, or collaborations, feel free to reach out.
